    Re: T-Mobile 4.2.0.64 upgrade exe

I'm on Rogers in Canada running their latest, 0.51. Is it "safe" to upgrade to this? I'd like to get that Standby-Keylock bug fixed, and I've read (too lazy to p/u the thread link) here that 0.64 fixes this.

And just in case I upgrade and someone goes wrong, I can always just Wipe the Handheld (in Security Options) and start over, right?

you can also download the newest cingular version .71 as well...just DO NOT forget to delete the vendor.xml file.

Is there a step-by-step "install an upgrade that isn't from your carrier" thread that explains the process?

    Re: T-Mobile 4.2.0.64 upgrade exe

The only difference is that you have to delete the 'vendor.xml' file from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader Folder, after installing the OS file on your PC and before opening the Desktop Manager Apps Loader.

    Hope this helps

    Re: T-Mobile 4.2.0.64 upgrade exe

An upgrade is just that it upgrades your OS and every subsequent release of an OS usually fixes some minor issues either with their code or a Bug that is noticeable.

If you are running 4.2.0.42 be aware that Upgrading your OS will take away the option to turn off "auto dim". But for me this was a welcome trade off since that OS was very buggy.

As for your Question clos36 upgrading your OS with the BB as long as its released from your provider will not void any type or warranty or insurance, and they would probably recommend it if you asked.

and clos, if you are using a TMO OS on a TMO phone you don't have to delete the Vendor.xml file.

on the t-mobile site it says "
    1. Download the new Desktop Manager and Handheld Software to your computer.
    2. Un-install any older version of Desktop Manager that is on your computer.
    3. Install the new Desktop Manager software onto your computer.
    4. Install the Handheld Software onto your computer.
    5. Connect your handheld to the computer and launch the Desktop Manager software to upgrade your handheld.
where is the handheld software? is that what is on the disk?
