Smile Sync Contacts/Calendar outside of BES

    Hey gang -

New to BB but learning fast. My company runs a BES and gave me an 8100. It works fine. I also set it up for personal email. Problem is, company only wants me to use wireless sync for contacts and calendar. I store all my Outlook content locally, so there is no data to sync on the MS Exchange server we have. Company also doesn't want me to use Blackberry Desktop Software to sync local data - they claim it screws up the security keys. So how can I get my Outlook contacts and calendar into the 8100?? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The simple answer is that you can't unless your BES admin. Will allow you to do so.

Thanks XLiMBS although I could use some positive thinking here . What about the admin's claim that the BB Desktop software is screwing up security keys? Is there a way around that? All I want to use the software for is to move data between computer and 8100. Is there a better way - a cleaner way - to do that?

    swwoodfin, Welcome to PinStack.

The Desktop manager is required to sync with your PC. If you company will not allow using Desktop Manager, I think your only option is to put your calendar and contacts on the Exchange server.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with this problem or your BB.

Thanks for the welcome, Rcbjr. Great to be here.

Since that is the case, is there any way to configure Desktop Manager so that there is no conflict with the BES? Does my admin's claim make sense to you?

    Thanks!

My pearl can't synch with Outlook 2003. Even with "Automatic Sync" button checked nothing happens.

The "synchronize now" button is faded out and unclickable.

"Configure synch." is also faded and unclickable.

    Help?

    I'm running DM 4.2 SP2 w/o Media Manager on Cingular OS 4.2.0.71.

Does your Desktop Manager say "Connected" or "Disconnected" at the bottom?

Actually it says "Disabled" haha. I had Application Loader working all this time but synching never worked.

I fixed it by manually connecting myself.
