    Suddenly stopped receiving e-mail? (AKO)

    Hi all,

New user here to both this forum and the BlackBerry. I configured my AKO (Army Knowledge Online) e-mail address to send/receive email. It worked for about 2 weeks, then suddenly stopped.

I've tried deleting the e-mail setup and applying it again, with no luck.

My AKO e-mail is automatically forwarded to another Army related domain and I receive it via Outlook. Any ideas as to why it would work, then suddenly stop? I have not changed any settings at all.

Thanks for any insight and help.

    Here is one possible cause.

Check your Outlook settings to make sure that Outlook is set to "leave a copy of messages on the server".

You might also want to re-send your service books to see if that helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I do have that setting enabled. I sent the service books and received it on the phone, but not in Outlook. No luck with receiving other e-mails either.

Here is a rather lenghty article from BTSC on this issue. Hopefully one of these resolutions will help you. Please post back if you need any assistance with any of these.

I have a that problem last week with my bb perl 8130 on sprint. I resent my service books and it took about a day for my emails to start being reforwarded to my blackberry. But here is the email that I got on the new beta mail which is supposed to work with bb and comply with the new gov't regulations. If you are interested in joining the Beta Mail Program, please read the following and respond back:

Information about the program can be found on http://www.beta.army.mil/Zone/Deskto...dex=1&tabid=11

Please note that we do not offer email forwarding from our system. This is explained in our FAQ section.

If this still interests you please respond back stating you would like to join the program and we will start the process for you.

You were able to get your Military email filtered to your personal BB???? WOW! Your IT department is seriously lagging! LOL!

If it's a military BB, dont mess with it. Take it to your IT guys, they'll fix it.

And the only reason I post this is because I literally fought with my IT sections SGM...and he still wouldn't budge. I was away from my desk ALL DAY because of work obligations...and they wouldn't foot a BB for me or other retention people...sowhy not give us our email if we footed the bill for the BB's...oh well. I quite the job and now someone else is taking up my battle.

And as to why it may not work---the govt may have figured what you are doing and blocked it.

The harder the Army makes it for me to do my job, the less work I do.

I have a sneaking feeling that they're the cause, since it just stopped working out of the blue.

I'm checking out everyone's advice. If I can't get it to work, guess I'll take this thing back for a return.

Edit - It's my personal BB. I would be footing the bill, other than knocking some of it it off on my taxes.

    So?!

[I'm an Army brat myself ... I know]

If it is a short-term problem it might be some kind of outage; otherwise, it is probably what ItsNowOrNever said. Try looking at the device Log [ Alt L G L G ] and see if there are any clues there... some kind of info or Warning that first appeared recently.

I wouldn't even bother to set it up on your BB anymore----personal blackberry + army information= HUGE TROUBLE!!!!

I know if you were sent my personal information on your personal blackberry through what I believed was a govt email (therefore protected) I would be spitting mad....enough to skip your CO and go straight to your BN or BDE....and I'm just an E6----hate to see what would happen if you pissed off an officer.

Calm down...I'm not in the Army. I just work for the Army, and do not receive confidential or classified e-mail. It's just essential that I am available to answer e-mail at any given time without being glued to a PC 24/7.

Okay, dead issue. For future reference to anyone who is attempting to do this, it is not allowed per AKO if you use a third party email aggregator.

    Thanks all for the replies.

Yeah---it was also VA personnell who were not "in the army" but working for the military who lost....what was it....several hundred thousand medical records with personal information?

Not being rude- but there were several military personnell here who could have told you that what you were doing was not "do-able" and that at some point it would have been stopped. Consider yourself lucky that you didnt get in trouble! I can understand why you would need it, but sometimes the military thinks that you can just glue your hiney to a chair when they want you to.

I can appreciate that, but in all honestly, the work I do doesn't involve any personal, classified or confidential information. Never has, never will.

    No exceptions though.
