    Standby vs. keylock

Can anyone give me the breakdown of the differences between the two? I ahve been using the Standby mode, but I'm wondering if I'm missing out on any notifications (or anything else) due to the standby mode vs. using the keylock tool.

    anyone know?

I use standby also. I tried keylock first but found the keys were not truly locked--if I pressed against the device in my pocket the thing would beep like crazy, something the standby mode solves.

Lets just say "Keylock" is like putting your phone to sleep, u can always wake him up when u press any btn and can actually cause to call 911 emergency call in your pocket.

"Standby" is like killing your phone lol jk but anyway u wont bring it up unless u hit the "standby" btn again. So basicaly its safer, and of course uses less battery.

Hope this weird explenation helps lol

dont forget that holding the END CALL key will awaken a BB in standby on the pearl as well as the standy (mute) key.

Do you get emails and calls as usual when in standby mode?

Yes you do, everything works as normal, except any keys and the screen.

    Re: Standby vs. keylock

LOL no no no putting your phone on stand by is not turning it completely off. U hold down the mute btn at the very top of your phone. Then to exit the stand by u hold the red end call btn or just press the mute btn again.

Standby mode is the best. I always put the bb in my white coat pockets and keylock sucked! I didn't realize that I was inadverdently calling a friend that I was mad at and had been ignoring for weeks! My face was so red when I saw my call logs. One call lasted for a minute!!

    Re: Standby vs. keylock

Is it really possible that you accidentally called a friend while your keypad was locked? I don't think you can make any calls except to 911, which I have accidentally done with this phone. My old phone would just allow you to hit 9-1-1 right after one another when the keypad was locked and you could hit call to call. The menu on the pearl makes it way too easy to call 911 accidentally. To make up for this I still use the keypad lock but I put it in standby mode at the same time when I put it in my pocket. It works just fine.

I read somewhere that the .71 helped with the 911 dial from keylock, this true?
