    Speed of 7100I, 8310, 8130?

I have a 7100I Nextel and have been wanting to upgrade to the 8130 but after playing with my neighbors 8310 AT&T last night I wasn't impressed by the web browsing speed. Is it the phone or the network? Would the 8130 be any faster at loading pages?

It is the network, GSM works little bit slower then CDMA.

Thumbs up Re: Speed of 7100I, 8310, 8130?

The speed of the browser has alot to do with the speed of the network you are using it on. AT&T does have the faster 3G network. Just as Verizon now has the EVDO network. Signal Strength has alot to do with it also. So in short check your signal strength. I have the 8130 on Verizon and it works rather well but i have had speed trouble in the lower service areas.

I have a sprint 8830 and my web browsing speed is really quick. I would think that with the upgraded OS and Sprints network the 8130 would be faster then the ATT Pearl. If you want to check it out head up to a Sprint store and try out one of the floor models.

    T- Mo: BB 9700, 8900, 8220
    Sprint: BB 8330, 8830, 8130, 8703, 7250

But there's a beautiful view of the end of the world from the pier.....

I have noticed a signifigant difference in speed on between Sprint and AT&T. Sprint just zips right through pages, where AT&T kind of ambles through. For my area the CDMA network is pretty strong. Depending on where you live you could see a signifigant difference.

I don't have the numbers handy but the differnence in Data Rates of EDGE and CDMA or EVDO are big. But again...you have to see what works best for your area.

Sprint has the fastest network with REV0 EVDO speeds. You cant compare the 8310 and the 8130 because as mentioned above the 8310 is GSM and the 8130 is CDMA, the only thing you need to know is whatever you decide will be faster than the 19kbps iDEN network.
