    Question Speaker/Ringer 8100 Pearl

I searched to see if this was asked before, so I apologize in advance for any redundancy. For some reason the speaker/ringer is not working on my 8100. Incoming calls/Ringtones etc.. cannot be heard. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Have you set up your tones and ringers? Some are set to "mute" by default. Or your phone could be on silent mode.

Go to <profiles>, highlight it. It is the speaker icon. Are there "Zzzzz" indicated on the icon, meaning coming out of the speaker? If so, the ringers are on quiet mode. You need to put it on loud or normal.

With the speaker icon highlighted, press the trackball. A menu will pop up. If you are on silent mode, scroll with the trackball to either <loud> or <normal> and click the trackball to select that sound profile.

If you want to set the various ring tones and e-mail notifiers, scroll down to <advanced>.

    Click the trackball to select.

Scroll or highlight the sound profile you want to edit or setup.

Now press the <menu> key, which is the key to the left of the trackball, with dots on it.

Select or highlight <edit> and press the trackball.

This will open to the various "events" such as e-mail and phone rings, for which you can select tones.

Also note that for each event you can select "mute" to turn off the notifying sound. By default some of the events may be muted, so you should take those off of mute.

After making your selections press the "escape" or "return" key, which is to the right of the trackball. It will ask you if you want to save your changes. Say yes or you will lose all the changes you made.

Remove the battery for a few seconds and put it back in and that should solve your problem.

I had the same issue for over week and I kept removing the battery and it didn't help. I had mine set to the loud profile. Data support said that's one of the bugs with the operating system of the Pearl. I had to exchange my handset.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ you could try using the Rogers handheld software. I hear it has a lot of the bugs fixed.

Given that you have not responded to any of our tips, I suspect that the problem was that the phone was simply on mute?

I think proper etiquette is to update us on what happened, so that other members can learn.

Not everyone can monitor PinStack during the day. Please give the OP a little more time to Respond.

    Thank you.

    Re: Speaker/Ringer 8100 Pearl

I just wanted to apologize for not getting back sooner as I had to leave town unexpectedly. I ended up just removing the battery, waiting for a few minutes, then placing the battery back in the phone.
I hope I didn't offend anyone with my poor etiquette. This is a very helpful & knowledgeable forum and I would hate to be unwelcome here.
Thanks again and I appreciate all who responded.

Glad you got it working. About the other thing, you did nothing wrong. You can't always control the circumstances of posting. You are very welcome here.
