    Space Needed For Top Performance...

What do you think is the minimal amount of memory free to get top performance out of your device in your mind? As we all know the more space avaliable the better your device runs but that's not always possible.

I don't know of a specific number, just try and get as much as possible. Delete vendor themes you don't use, remove any extra languages and move all pictures and music to a memory card.

I have over 30MB free (36 actually) and experience very fast performance. I've got a decent amount of stuff installed too so I'm not sure how people full them up.

    I'm running:
    JiveTalk
    ToDo Matrix
    BBWeather
    Google Maps
    Beyond 411
    5 themes and some backgrounds.

I'm not so sure it depends so much on the actual number but how many times you reset you phone. Of course a nice amount of mb can make your BB happier but I'd also suggest periodically resetting your phone. I do it maybe once ever other day or when I changed options heavily. Some days I had trouble deciding which theme I wanted to use and changed it about 3 x in a row and noticed my BB became really sluggish. A reset worked like a charm. This works to get my BB up to speed also after I've changed backgrounds, edited my profiles, used a ton of google maps, etc.

I agree on the reset as well. I've removed all the unused apps, sample videos and pics, etc. that I never use. About every 2-3 days, I do a battery pull reset and it seems to help a lot. Periodically clearing out the log files also seems to help.

The 8100 comes with about 14mb free memory out of the box. It's easy to more than double that deleting the languages and sample video only. Mine has 32mb free reset and that drifts down to 23k before I reset it every couple weeks. Runs fast IMO.

    Just FYI....

I just did a battery pull and that simple task took me from 11.9 to 19.999 free.

Yeah I'm usually at 19 to 20 MB free, with a battery pull I get to 24MB to 26MB.

What!?! 14mb. I don't remember it having that little when I first got mine.

I usually have about 20mb to 15mb free sometimes less. I have a TON of applications installed and my RSS reader takes up a bunch of it. I never have any issues it lagging.

Are you guys having lag problems?

To see free memory, press and hold the ALT key and type "RACE".

Been running since yesterday and I went from 36MB free to 34MB free.
    As always, just my opinion...
