This phone is teh secks!! I love the new suretype functions like the drop down list of crap while I'm typing. And the custom dictionary function solved all my complaints with suretype! I now can type my full name without scrolling and deleting letters for 5 minutes!

    Pearl to Flip

Have to say, woudln't go back. The guys who mugged me got a really sorry example of just what happens to a Pearl that lives in your pockets and gets used, hard, every day for 2 years.

I'd never wanted a flip before, because they are all so dainty and fragile, but the BB doesn't feel at all that way and the balance on it is spectacular. There's no sense that the screen is going to pull the whole thing out of your hands onto the ground.

    Now THAT is engineering.

Love mine. Great device, love the 4.6 OS....

Hate the browser though - makes pinstack wap just about impossible

I agree with the browser comment... I used to hate Opera Mini because of all the zooming and scrolling but now I really like its "mobile view" for Pinstack. One of those cases of never say never I guess! Although the BB browser seems to work fine for all the other sites I go to.

What are the odds of RIM coming out with a candybar device like the 8110 with all the updates that the Flip 8220 has? I am not a huge flip fan. I love my 8110 through AT&T, but would like to see the same device with all the new updates.

I love the flip. Having used a Bold in the past, I know the flip doesn't have 3G but I don't use my BB to tether so EDGE is fine for me. I like the fact that the trackball and keyboard are protected when flip is closed so no gunk to build up on trackball. I sold my Bold to a friend.

^^ awesome! i actually switched back to my curve over the past weekend, only to switch right back to the flip. am i crazy or what? suretype isn't the best (wish it had "super fast typing speed" because even on fast its not fast enough ) but i LOVE the keys on this. and the size is amazing.

my hubby was disappointed as he thought he was going to be able to try it out

I hardly talk about mine here on PinStack.... because.... it's Terrific!

No problems, no drawbacks, just an excellent BB ! As a true lover of SureType and the perfect sized keys on the flip, I could not be happier. I use it constantly in the evenings and weekends. This is one very underrated BlackBerry. People that have not tried it, do not know what they are missing. I'm so glad I bought this model. FUN is the operative word here, it's so light you hardly know you're carrying it. Finally the flip is really sturdy and it flips open with a very nice action. Can you tell I'm enthusiastic about this one?

    Cheers

Stop it Archer I was not a Flip fan at first, but it is growing on me. Prior to using BlackBerry devices, I was a religious Razr user. I'll have to go to a TMO store to check one out. I wonder if AT&T will get it?

Me too, I'm now using a Linux powered Charcoal Gray V8 RAZR2. Great reception and fast enough to check my email. It's on my third line so as to have a backup if one of my others goes down. On the road a lot, I cannot be caught out without a phone. Also great if I accidentally loose a phone. (knock on wood haven't done that in a long while)

I'm telling you, the 8220 Flip would shock you, it's so good. There is nothing cheap about it. The only reason it's priced so reasonably is that RIM made the low price one of it's priorities for this model. There is nothing missing or cheap about it. I have big hands and find the keys just perfect for me. Great size and spacing, in a very compact phone. I can hammer out emails nearly as fast as on my Bold. What an accomplishment from RIM!

You know you want one... and you know that AT&T is certain to get them before too long. Just like T-Mo got the Pearl first then a few months later it was available through AT&T.

    Get ready...

I've been pretty eager to get my wife to switch over to Rogers as well and get the flip. I feel so bad because even with a Seidio case on it my old Pearl she's using is getting pretty beat up. She's the type of person that should have a flip phone without a doubt and she already likes the pearl so I think it'd be win/win.

I would certainly think she would love it. Personally I think it's a very gender neutral phone that is popular with guys or gals. There are so many nice "little" touches as well as the obvious advantages that a BlackBerry brings. Especially after using a Pearl, this 8220 is even better, faster, more fun as the keyboard is really first class.

    Cheers...
