    SMS vs MMS vs Email

The Pearl is my first internet enabled phone. What is the difference between SMS, MMS and Email? I have the data plan and I have been sending and receiving emails for a week. Please explain the differences and/or the benefits of each.

Re: SMS vs MMS vs Email

    SMS: regular text messages
sent through the phone from mobile devices or from carriers website to the phone number that you want, alot of phones are able to do this

MMS: multimedia messages (pictures attached or music)
messages that have pictures or sounds attatched to them, usually most carriers have this available on phones or devices with cameras, if you don't have a plan that will accept them you are usually charged around 25 cents per message

    email: just regular email,
email just like using outlook or whatever software you use to send email, your blackberry is able to receive and send these with no problems, i have read and used a service called teleflip that allows you to use your blackberry to send sms messages to other people if your blacberry did not have the sms available

    hope this helps a bit

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Quick question. Why couldn't they just say picture message, text message, and email. If I have one complaint about by BB it is the fact that I could never remember which is which. Also why is it I can receive picture attachments but not send them.

Skip, I always remember which is which because a Multimedia Message begins with MM. Try the same thing!

I literally have to say it aloud in my head everytime I want to send an SMS.

After a while, we should be able to get used to it.

Skip, I have been pondering on this myself and honestly it just isn't available as yet. I am not if what I am about to say is correct but if it isn't ladies and gentlemen you are more than welcome to correct me.

The BB was designed to receive and send emails keep track of todos etc. You can forward a email with a attachment but not create one. Why this is so I guess consumer demand?

    skip00319,

You should be able to forward email messages that contain pictures. Can you do that?

In order to respond we need more information. What Carrier? What device? Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan activated with you account?
