    Sim Card Security?

I went into options and sim card and noticed it said sim card security disabled. Should the security be enabled or not for the sim card.

If you want to enable security for your card you can...not really needed though. You can have a password protect your SIM card. General users don't really need it though.

ok here's a scenario like teamjordan had.

BB stolen 10 passwords tried, BB wiped. does this wipe the contacts on the sim card?
or can you still pull the contacts from the card after a security wipe?

if not why would you save all contacts to sim card?
I don't save contacts to sim for just this reason. or am I wrong?
Been a long while since last login. Sorry all, adjusting to a new life is great and hell at the same time!!

I thought it wipes everything clean on the device only...correct me if I'm wrong.

SIM is totally independent from the device wipe right?

I believe you are correct Reddog. I don't keep any contacts, etc. on my SIM, so if you do, probably not a bad idea to enable security on it.

Okay thanks guys. I don't save anything on my Sim either. So I guess I don't need to enable security.

I was just going through my pearl looking at more ways to bolster security.

Enabling security will also keep someone from taking your sim out of the unit and putting it in another phone and running up your bill.

I was wondering if it prevented anyone from taking your Sim card and using it on another phone. Thanks because of that I will enable it.

    Re: Sim Card Security?

Once you report your phone stolen they will deactivate that SIM card.

True. But there's no harm in putting in the password also. I would think.
