Okay I don't know if there is a setting for this or not but it is frustrating me.

When I go the the set up wizard thing then to did you know...it says in there that you can specify sounds per specific contacts for when they call and send messages. Okay I can get the the custom sounds to work with phone calls but when the SMS comes thru for that contact it's the same one for everyone...not the same sound that comes thru as when they call. Is anyone following me? That make any sense at all? I know to most of you that sounds piddly, but I used to love hearing that specific little ring when a certain person SMS'd me...not they are all the same. With my razr or any other cell phone I had I could always just set a custom sound for one person and anything that came from them would ring their specific tune

Does anyone know if this is changeable or am I stuck?

I think it's possible, but it's a bit of a chore, especially if you have a lot of contacts.

#1 - create a profile for that contact, and set up the calls, emails, SMS, tones you desire.

#2 - create an exception, and add only the one contact to the exception for whom you just made the profile.

This is the only way I can see, without the use of 3rd party apps, to achieve what you are trying to do.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Lewis is right on the money. I've been doing this for a very long time, and it works like a charm.

A profile is the settings for how your BB device provides alerts to incoming messages, phone calls and other alarms. They can be edited or created in the Profiles App on your BB. An Exception is just that, it is an exception to the Active Profile for a given contact or group of contacts. It will ring diferently based on how the Exception is set up.

    Hope this helps
