So if I got data enabled, I'd atleast be able to send picture text's right? do they dowload right on the screen when you receive them? or do you have to goto a website?

nope directly on the screen. I don't know why BB's do that, but you do need the data plan for MMS. Also, you gain a lot when you get the data plan!

Rogers is expensive as **** being a student now can"t afford the data... so if I atleast get data enabled. MMS isn;t really using data is it?

yes, the MMS uses data. anything you have to send over the network uses data. With the exception of BBmsgr and pinmessages. those are called peer-to-peer and don't detract from your text plan.

Also note (as my girlfriend and I have found out) that you cannot send pictures as SMS, only MMS. This means, devices that do not accept the MMS code will not recieve them.

For example, the Palm Treo 680 integrated their SMS and MMS features into the same software package, however, the OS does not recieve MMS msgs into the SMS software correctly. Anything coded with an MMS header will not be accepted on the Treo 680... however, since the Treo 650 has seperate SMS and MMS features in the OS, that model will accept MMS's from teh BB Pearl correctly...

Talk about a huge pain in the *** for compatibility...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Do BB's not use the MMS protocol as other phones do? Every phone I've had with a camera could send/receive MMS messages with nothing more than the 15 cent charge of the message. I've never had a data plan before I got my BB.

Can't say I've run across a "picture text message" before though. ;-)

I can send MMS and receive them. So it can send a picture text message. Not sure, however, if you can do it with the unlimited picture/text message service from t-mobile or if you need the black berry data service.

Try getting the data services enabled and send an MMS message and then call again next day and cancel the data services. Hopefully your MMS sending capability will stay.

    Cheers

My old samsung (w/ tmo) used to send pic messages on my unlimited texting plan.

What carrier are you on? I guess I'm just spoiled with Tmo's remarkably cheap data plans
