SD Card Issue with my Alltel 8130.
I've been using a SanDisk 2gb MicroSD card in my alltel 8130 for several months now, without any issues at all. I make my own ringtones on my laptop, then place my microSD card in my laptop's onboard card reader to transfer the files...without any problems at all.
Anyways, earlier today I decided to try out this little SD card reader that I hooked up to my main desktop pc. I transferred two ringtones to my sd card, ended the connection service on my pc to "safely remove all hardware" like I always do, then removed my sd card and replaced it in my 8130. The 8130 recognizes the card being inserted or removed...but doesn't recognize anything on it, says it's unformatted, and errors upon trying to format it. I've rebooted the phone, pc-formatted the card, left the phone's battery out for 30 minutes....nothing.
I decided to try another sd card, so I used my spare 1GB microSD left over from my Razr v3mS...I cleared the files out on it using my laptop, put it in my 8130...same problem. Both cards still work and register with my laptop, both cards work in my fiance's Razr v3ms...just not on my 8130. This now leads me to believe there's something wrong with my phone.
Has anyone else had this problem, and was able to fix it without replacing the phone???
EDIT: I found a way to fix this, should work for most Blackberry phone's having the same problem. Read 3rd post of this thread for the steps required. You MUST have the desktop software installed on your PC in order to backup your phone because this process RESETS your phone back to it's default factory state.

the bb encrypts the mem card(if you chose to) so it probably got screwed up when you tried something new.
try formatting the card while its in your bb
Menu>options>advanced>media card>open menu>choose format card
That's what isn't working...the on-board format option. Gives me an error saying "Can not format card". It doesn't show card capacity or space left, either.
Anyways...I did get it fixed. I backed up my phone using the desktop software, then went to settings>security options>general>press menu and choose "wipe phone">type in "blackberry" to confirm master delete/reset. Let the phone do it's wipe and reboot, then restore phone using desktop software, insert media card, format, back to working 100% like it was before.
Hopefully that same process works for everyone, I've noticed many users having this same problem.
I was having the same problem. I followed Socialistic's advice and it worked like a charm.
