I actually have the screen turned down to the lowest (10%) and that's more than enough for me...

Make sure you have your auto dim feature turned off!!! no matter high high you set it the BB will automaticly Dim it for low light conditions... If you have the rogers pearl or the rogers OS on your BB there is no way to turn the Auto dim feature off

My device will also dim after a while and gets v annoying when trying to watch videos

I am using the Pearl on Vodafone in the UK and the ability to turn off the 'Auto dim' is also non-existent - ' It does appear on the 'Help' file though

    Is this carrier specific?

    why would they remove it?

Any way to get it back?

    Thanks in advance,

    litfoo

    litfoo, Welcome to PinStack,

Do you not have a Automatic Backlight setting in your Options - Screen/Keyboard screen? What OS are you using on your 8100?

    Re: Screen not bright enough>?

the auto dim feature is locked on in OS 4.2.0.51 the orginal T-mobile OS 4.2.0.41 had the option to turn it on/off.. After all of us upgraded are OS to rogers wich is the same as vodafone UK we found out that it was locked on. Why RIM did this we have no idea I guess they thought people liked the auto dim so much to just have it locked on. There seems to be a small issue with the BB not getting bright enough sometimes i have found if you put the BB in standby for a sec and then take it back out it brightons up a little...
the only way to get it back would be to down grade your OS to T-mobiles OS but there are many many bugs with T-mobiles OS wich is why eceyone upgraded there OS in the first place.

This is because the auto dim feature is locked ON... SO no matter where you set your screen brightness the BB will adjust it for light conditions

Again you can set it at what ever brightness level you want but with 4.2.0.51 OS the BB will adjust it from 100%-10% depending on how bright the light is where you at at any given time.
    From the user guide

"The screen and keyboard on your BlackBerry® device are designed to be lit so that you can use your device in various lighting levels.
Your device is also designed to adjust the backlighting automatically as the lighting conditions in your environment change."
