    Lightbulb Saving Informative PinStack Posts

Here is a tip on some self-help.

Whenever I see informative posts on tips and tricks related to my 8100 or see posts where executing commands are mentioned:

I copy the text in the post, open up my Outlook e-mail program, compose an e-mail to myself and paste the Forum post content.

When it shows up in my BB e-mail I save the e-mail so I can reference it later.

I have about 12 saved informative Forum e-mails on my BB at this time.

Good idea sanfran, here is what I do. I click thread tools and choose subscribe to this thread, then the thread will be saved so no matter where you are you have the thread with you.

and...if you don't want to get emailed instantly with notifications/replies (you just want to 'bookmark' it) then choose no notification.

I keep a couple of notepad text files on my desktop with certain threads that are popular (read necessary a lot) formated as URL links so that all I have to do is Cut and Paste. Even got my standard response for curing Java Errors that require a wipe loaded in one.

Lightbulb Re: Saving Informative PinStack Posts

I just create an Outlook Note with the plain text version of the post, assign it a category of @BB, then make sure it is stored in that portion of Outlook Notes that are synched to my 8100 under MemoPad. I have loads of Outlook Notes that appear both on my 8100 MemoPad and in my 7100t Notes subfolder under Notes in Outlook.

At each synch, the notes are compared and synched as appropriate. From my RIM.LOG file from my last synch, here is a snippet of what occurred:

BB 8100 Keyboard Shortcuts - Unchanged on Both Systems
Why We Resist the Weekly Revi - Unchanged on Both Systems
Hacking the Blackberry for G - Unchanged on Both Systems
Cascading Routers - Unchanged on Both Systems
HOWTO: Yahoo! Mail Plus with - Unchanged on Both Systems
Packing List - Cascades Backp - Unchanged on Both Systems
7100t Keyboard Tips and Trick - Deleted from First System
List of Acronyms & Text Messa - Unchanged on Both Systems
How To - Connect a personal c - Unchanged on Both Systems
Real GTD for your BlackBerry - Unchanged on Both Systems
GTD on A Blackberry - Technic - Unchanged on Both Systems
GTD on a Blackberry - The Wee - Unchanged on Both Systems
Wiring Instructions for Busin - Unchanged on Both Systems
Pickwick Tournament Direction - Unchanged on Both Systems
Sprint 8 - Workout Regimen - Unchanged on Both Systems
Stinsonddog’s Guide to Gmail - Unchanged on Both Systems

The synch log truncates the name in the log, but everything is fine in the note itself, which appears in both places. When I want to find a particular note, I filter using categories or I just run a search using the 8100 search function.

The notes are stored in both places as plain text. If you need HTML and images, then perhaps a saved email with an HTML attachment is more appropriate.

Let me know if you have questions.
