Hi guyy, welcome to pinstack. I remember seeing information about that here on pinstack, but unfortunately I dont have a pearl so dont pay too close attention to that BB. Someone should be along shortly to assist you.

In the meantime take a look here... http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...earl_8100.html

I have the same problem and tried two different converters - none of them work. Is there anybody out here who could get a regular earphone to work?

    Hey guys,

There is no way to use a standard 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor with the blackberry and get proper stereo sound on both ear phones. If you notice, a regular headphone adaptor has 3 conductors on the connector - Left, right, and ground. The blackberry has 4 conductors due to the fact that one conductor is used for microphone/button input when using a headset.

The right piece to use for the 8100 is the following:
go to: www dot seidioonline dot com /index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=529

    ( i cant post urls yet )

I bought one about a week back and it works great.

I'm not sure if Siedio is the only one who makes these, but at the moment its the only one I can confirm that works great as I own it.

I bought one at Target for $15 and use PhiLlips stereo headphones with no prob. I can't remember who makes the adaptor, but it has a microphone on it for talking, and a retractable cord. HOpe this is what you're looking for. I get audio in both sides btw.

I did the same thing. The company that makes it is call Just Wireless. and they sell a cable that has a microphone built into it. You can then use your own headphones.

If anyone knows where to buy this cable that lets you use your own headphones, please let me know. I am interested in buying this.

    Thanks,

Uh, see above. Maybe Target. Or get the seidio from the blackberry store for about $20 shipped.

i bought an adapter at radio shack 2.5mm to 3.5mm for like $3
the only thing the connection is kind of touchy
you have to find the "sweet spot" in between in and out
once you get it right works fine.
i think im gonna send order that adapter with the built in mic though.

Verizon stores have an adapter designed for the Chocolate phone. it's a 2.5mm>3.5mm stereo adapter with a microphone. It also has about a 4" extension cord. it works well and costs $15.

Looking on eBay, by searching 8100 2.5mm 3.5mm adaptor

this was all I could find. (just 1)

I'm not sure if it's the same as the seido one
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7792&rd=1&rd=1

This seido says it works with the 8100, but many have said it needs 4 indents, these pictured only show 3, so does it really work?:
