    Lightbulb Recover Lost Internet Browser???

I am very new to this. Followed the directions in the box to set up new BB Pearl. Installed CD with device manager to desktop....resulted in loss of browser icons and preloaded media files. I uninstalled device manager and rebooted my computer (Win XP MCE), but have not been able to install the software versin downloaded from the bb website.

Mail setup done via website - missing one of the 3 options for setup thru the wizard.

No idea what else got corrupted

How can I get the browser functions back, please.

ANother web forum said this is a known problem with the cd that comes in the BB box...and they suggested returning it to the store for a working new model while still in the 30 day warranty period. Kinda hate to do that since I just set this one up somewhat.

    Advice please?

Before you do this you have to have the correct version of desktop manager. if your on BIS / BES / Desktop redirector. Make sure you have a full GPRS or EDGE conenction. Go to options and advance options, and go to your host routing table. Look for the number in BOLD and highlight it. Press the trackwheel and click register now! If this did not work I would suggest doing an application loader, this will reload your operating system and or the browser...

    Horvie

This is a very common issue with new BB using the DM on the CD. No need to return anything -- Please download a new version of DM https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22 and review item # 7 in Reddogs mini FAQ and you should be back in business!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ The same thing happened to me. I would suggest the following three steps to troubleshoot it, in order and only proceed to the next step if the previous one doesn't work: (BTW this is just a collection of suggestions some of which have already been made above)

    1. Do a reset by pulling your battery out than putting it back in. This should always be your 1st step when troubleshooting a BB.

    2. Go to Options > advanced options > host routing tables.
Then select the bold item. Then hit the menu button and click register now. Wait until you get a confirmation message and then check to see if your browser is back.

    3. Download the latest version of DM and the newest OS your carrier offers. Search the stacks for instructions and reinstall the OS.

I had to do all 3 but they will work. Good luck.

You can go to your internet BIS site and just click "resend Service Books" or call your carrier and they can do it for you.

    Re: Recover Lost Internet Browser???

Horvie, when you posted this problem in the AT&T forums, we gave you this same list of instructions to follow. Did they not work when you tried it? (Or maybe you didn't see the response, based on the time of your OP)

As Gary mentioned, its a common problem with the AT&T Pearls. Downloading the most current Desktop Manager application and AT&T OS will fix you right up.

Post back here to us if you're still having issues, we'll get you back on track.
