    rebooting every day

hi all, i have a friend who told me you have to switch off the blackberry once a day to keep it running good, kinda like a computer....

i know there's a full power off, an normal power off,
    soft reset and hard reset

which one do i have to do daily/regularly to keep my bb running smoothly, and which one don't i have to do?

ALSO for the auto power on/off, does it switch off the blackberry completely or just standby? same if i press the "off" botton, because i notice when i go to menu to find the turn off button it gives me the two options

    thanks

No, you absolutely do not have to reboot it every day. The only time you need to do that is if you start experiencing problems or glitches.

    Soft reset OTA: http://www.geekandproud.net/blackber.../softreset.jad
Soft reset DM installtion download (alx/cod): http://www.geekandproud.net/blackber.../softreset.zip

my suggestion is close applications you are not using, that should keep memory usuage low and do the reset like like once a week

Downloaded soft reset. Just did a battery pull because I had a bb messenger notification icon frozen up top.

^^ i find clicking a icon is best for the phone instead of wear and tear of removing the back cover and pulling out the battery.

I agree. I did the battery pull before I found out about the soft reset app.

    Re: rebooting every day

i started using auto on/off because one day my phone was working fine, but i wasn't getting any messages. i had just powered the phone off and powered it on and i got like 10 texts and 2 voicemails. guess i wasn't getting anything all day., haha (i was working too, not good). so i set it to turn off everyday at 7 am and turn on at 7:02 am. i should be sleeping at that point so i wouldn't be using the phone, only once i wanted to use my phone while it was doing that, but i would've been drunk dialing so i'm glad it was shut off. hahaaha

    Re: rebooting every day

What is the difference between the soft reset app and using ALT + RIGHT SHIFT + DEL? When I just use the keyboard shortcut my phone behaves the same as a battery pull. Not sure I want to put software on my BB if I don't have to.

EDIT: Maybe this shortcut is just for 83XX?

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Red power button just turns off the radio and puts the phone into standby
