    re-boot problem

Using my pearl here in the UK on Orange

Did my regular batt out thing this morning.

Put the battery back in and the device went straight into the Orange wap site - or tried to - kept getting the message "problem rendering page"

Never done this before and it keeps doing it now

Usually goes straight into home screen and never had that message when entering wap site

    Whats happened ??

It just could be your network. Are you using the 8700 or 8100?

    Using 8100

after about 7 calls to different depts of orange still got nowhere.

As a last resort, totally wiped the handheld and re-activated.

This cured the boot up issue but still cant get orangeworld.

having looked thru the settings it seems my orange world browser is corrupt

    Re: re-boot problem

The orange world browser is set to WAP but having compared everything to a collegues device it seems that all the settings are wrong and some of the service books seem to be missing.

    To make things even worse

The device im using was given to me by RIM as a trial device prior to Orange selling the Pearl.

It is Orange branded, has an Orange sim and is locked to Orange

However when I spoke to orange this morning they said that acording to the IMEI number it is not an orange device so the can offer no support.

whats even more worrying is that considering I was speaking to the Blackberry technical help desk, when I mentioned RIM, they asked who is this RIM you keep talking about !!!!!!

Any possibility you can get them to send service books?

They are refusing to do so because they say it is not their device !!!

    Re: re-boot problem

c13tay, Installing the latest OS will not help. You must have the carrier send you the service books.
My opinion would be is that if you have an Orange SIM and data plan i cannot see how they could refuse.

I think you need to ask for a supervisor/manager to help sort your prob out.

The tel # for RIM europe is 01753667333 if Orange can,t or won,t help.

    Re: re-boot problem

Just need to resolve the issue with Orange re who this device belongs to !!!

orange still say its not theirs even though its locked to orange, has an orange sim, an orange account and has the word "Orange" written on the front of it !!!!

Waiting for word back from RIM

Interestingly, I went on one of those sites which tells you if devices are lost, stoled etc

typed in the IMEI - - got the reply "number doesnt exist"
