    Question about unlocking Pearl

I'm currently with T-Mobile. I purchased a Pearl about two weeks ago from them, and extended my service agreement.

My question is this, from what I understand, T-Mobile will unlock your phone three months after you've signed up or extended your service with them.

If I'm happy with T-Mo (which I am), is there still a reason to go in after three months, and have my Pearl unlocked? I have no plans right now to change carriers.

    Thanks

Only reason to unlock in your case would be to make your phone more valuable at resale.

Some folks who travel oveseas like to be able to purchase a local sim card for local use while traveling. An unlocked GSM phone (such as pearl) will allow this. Locked will not.

this is the reason I got mine unloacked via t-mobile for free, I had to go to hong Kong and I told Tmo that I didn't want to pay 1.50 a min international roaming and that I was going to use a prepaid sim when I got there.
