    Question about battery pull

I know that when you do a battery pull, it should be done with the power on. However, when I do one with the power off, it still does the whole hourglass thing on the next boot. I was just curious what is happening differently here.

I personally believe that the battery pull can be done with the power on or off. Either way, you're cutting the power off completely, and that's the key point.

True but with the phone on it jolts the system. It is kind of like An ALT+CTRL+DLT. It does not give the system time enough to shut down. This is also why if you pop the battery back in to quickly after say loading an OTA theme or deleting stuff it will boot up with no change, but when you leave it out 30 seconds it will change what you wanted it too. If you pop the battery back in to early the internal memory has enough juice to hold the last info.

I agree you'd want to keep it out for more than ten seconds, to let the juice drain out, but I don't think it matters whether you do it while it's on or off, is what i was saying...

    Re: Question about battery pull

To me its seems like pulling out the battery so frequently could mess up something with the phone internally.

    No it shouldn't.

At work we always power off the blackberry. After doing so we then take the battery out. Seems silly taking out the battery with the device on, what if it was writing something to the flash memory, can easily corrupt files etc.

If you're fine doing it with the power on then continue, don't let me stop you. But think of it this way, would you do the same to any other electronic device, e.g. a laptop or games console?

    Food for thought....
