    Profiles correct but Red LED will not flash

    Hi there,

    I just picked up a new 8110, on Vodafone Australia, but the red LED will not flash upon receipt of email as my old one did. It is BIS based, rather than BES.

    Even though I have set all elements under the normal profile to give LED flashing in or out of holster, and it is set on the normal profile, the red led will not work except with texts or when receiving calls.

    Any ideas how I might solve this?

    Here is what to do, that has worked for me. Even though you've already checked all your settings, I would go back in and change them to something, anything else, save them, and exit out.
    Then go right back in and reset them to what you want. As silly as that sounds it works.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this, saving "none" then exiting to the main menu. Then I went in again, changed to "LED flashing", saved then exited out again. Sent test message.

    Unfortunately it didn't work, still no flashing LED on receipt of emails.. :-(

    Any other suggestions?

    No, it is a brand new phone, out of the box on Vodafone AU.

    I called Vodafone support and was advised to backup and wipe the phone, which I did, everything else is fine but still no flashing LED when receiving email!

    They are as stumped as me and are investigating / calling back.

    Well no call back from Vodafone support during the business day, so I downloaded BB alerts and guess what - it still doesn't flash red on receipt of emails!!!!

    Weird.

    Try deleting then requesting service books??

    To solve this, I had to wipe the handset twice, then reload the service books twice.

    Interestingly, after the second wipe, Vodafone did not send the service books, but I set up the accounts online via BIS. I could then receive but not send email.

    When I requested the service books to address this via the handset rather than via the helpdesk, the red flashing LED kicked in.

    Vodafone tried but could not help me at all.

    So it was a fluke!
