An hour ago, I was able to send an SMS with no problems to my friend on the same network (i have an unlocked tmo phone using on rogers - friend has locked rogers bb8700)...and now, I can't send her a message!?
fyi, i unlocked the bbp only 2 hours ago.
HELP! SMS was the sole reason i got this phone...plus the coolness factor haha.

    Re: Problems with SMS

pinkcess, this could just be a delay or a SMS transport network problem. Give it a while and try again.

Keep us up to date on this. Do you have a Blackberry Data Plan? Does your friend? If so why not use Pin messaging or BB Messenger. It's better that SMS. Save you SMS messages for friends that don't have BBs

That's no joke. I have a family plan and just had to add SMS to each line and its EXPENSIVE (I am the only one with the BB)

    Re: Problems with SMS

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Do get the hour glass and then the red X?

If you open the offending SMS, then scroll up, you will see the error message.

I'm on Rogers along with my housemate, and even texting him in the next room, I will get 1 red X for every 10 SMS sent. It's a protocol error.

This usually happens because SMS traffic is so heavy on the network. Rogers has only one gateway/service centre.

Just open the red X SMS and click on resend, and it should go.

    Hope that helps.

If all of the previous suggestions do not solve the problem you can delete the appropriate service book, and resend it and you should be good to go. Good luck.

    Re: Problems with SMS

    Hi,

I had exactly the same problem when starting up the 8100 in the Rogers Network. Here's what I did to resolve:

Go to Options -> Network -> under Network selection mode I changed it to "Manual" and scanned for Available networks. Once it picked up Rogers, I selected it and now SMS works fine. For some reason the automatic network selction mode didn't work for me.

I'm going to try switching it back to automatic when I go back to my current city. Right now I'm out of town visiting family so am not sure if that was part of the problem.

Hope the fix works for you too.

    Happy Holidays
