"about" problems in the new OS 4.5.0.81

    on an 8100

ok so I upgraded my co-workers phone today, and everything seems to be working except one thing.

under options (where it lists; about, advanced options, auto on/off, etc... etc...)

he can no longer go into about...

I found this very weird so I though I'd come to the experts!!

I did remove some modules from the java folder, but I don't think that this would cause the about screen to stop showing up.

    here is what I removed:

all of the voice activated dialing resources and the engine
    all of the MSN resources
    KNJCD
chinese, chinese traditional, hongkong, japanese, korean, semetic, fonts

    TID:
    chinese_cj_core
    chinese_common
    Chinese_JNI_core
    chinese_stroke_trad
    Chinese_wubi

like I said I don't think that removing any of these would prevent the about screen from coming up

not that it's a HUGE thing I mean what is really on the "ABOUT" screen that you ABSOLUTELY need to see? not much. just thought it was rather odd
    any thoughts?

Neither of us really cares if it's there, just curious about what made it go away.

it is something in the voice activated dialing files... i used "maxmem" to clear up some space and i noticed two things wrong. when i deleted the "vad" and the "experimental ringtones" i could not access the "about" section and the ringtones/advanced settings "phone, sms, etc".. after some back and forth.. deleting the VAD takes away the "about" option and deleting the ringtones makes it unable to get to the single setting under advanced... long explanation, but its one of the VAD files you deleted, i haven't gone in to figure out which one it is though, but this should point you in the right direction.

Nito is correct. Remove vad means no more about.

ok, now how do you get your DM to detect the newly-downloaded OS upgrade?
Tilt is fun with WM 6.1, but not enough to kill the need for my nw iPhone 3Gs!!!

search for vendor.xml on your PC and delete the file, then hook up your berry, the DM should find it
