Did I read that you went to a new PC (which never had the Rogers OS on it). Installed the DM and Cing OS and it still did not offer to change your OS?

No I am still using the very same computer. My question stems from what do I need to get the OS files to appear. I keep reinstalling .73 on my computer and I cannot get the apploader filet to appear in the RIM folder in program files. I just don't know what else to do. I know that all I need to do is get that file to appear and I'm good to go. Unfortunately I seem to be hampered and unable to get it to recognize on the PC.

I do not know how to uninstall .94 as I cannot find the file in control panel. All i have existing in control panel is .73 handheld and desktop manager 4.2.2.

Yet it does not give me an install new os option upon plugging in the device. Therefore I have no xml file to delete as well.

Has anyone else encountered these steps and if so, what rectified the problem?

    Re: Please help me downgrade...

The problem here seems to be that the desktop manager refuses to recognize the new OS. After checking other threads I see this has been a problem but I have yet to find a post from anyone who solved it.

Arigold - what link are you using to download the Cingular OS?

I do not know what else to do. I have tried these options of uninstalling everything from the PC and I am still unable to reinstall AND come up with the Apploader file for .73. Do I need an earlier version of desktop manager or something? WHAT???????????

    That is my problem.

Gary...I am using the link directly from blackberry.

Cherri, I have not done this but that was a consideration of mine as to whether or not it was completely uninstalled using control panel. Also I have been everything from online sources via blackberry.com. I have not used the CD that came with the pearl for anything, even when I upgraded to Rogers .94

If I wipe it which I will gladly do as everything gets backed up daily what do I do about the problem regarding the handheld software showing up on my pc???

let's fix one thing at a time. not sure why you can't find the file for the vendor.xml file

just to be sure, this is where you are looking:

    program files/common files/research in motion/app loader

if app loader doesn't appear, then you have not installed the OS on your PC. remember, downloading and installing to your PC are two different things.

let's work on fixing DM first

Darling moderator, I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and uninstalled again. That apploader files does NOT exist anywhere on my pc. Searching for the vendor.xml through search yeilds no results. I do not know what else to do and I am clearly losing my mind.

    Re: Please help me downgrade...

Alright I'm going to try this in about 2 hours when I get home from work where I can uninstall using the thread listed above for complete removal of desktop manager.

Gary, that is where I have been downloading it...still it hates me.

Do you have a folder C://program_files/common_files/Research_in_Motion/Shared/loader_files? If so what does it contain. If not, then you have not correctly installed the handheld file or you installed it in a different location some how.

    Hope this helps.
