    Pin?!

    Hi there,

I'm new to PinStack. I just received a private message from someone asking me for my pin. I feel silly asking but can someone tell me what a pin is. I highly doubt he wants my ATM pin lol. This is my first BlackBerry and I have so much to learn.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Re: Pin?!

hello, you pin is an address for your bb (blackberry) its a way for them to send you an instant message to your device, you can find your pin number if you go to options, status, there you will find it, every bb has bb messenger, you prolly saw an icon that says "messenger" right ? thats where you would add bb friends to your list, mine is3180af09 if you would like to test it out, and welcome to pinstack !!!!

    Re: Pin?!

    Welcome to pinstack.

Every Blackberry has a specific 8 digit PIN numbered assigined to it. Its kind of like an IP address for a computer. Basically you can talk to other BB uses thru BB messenger or via PIN messaging both of which require you to have a data plan.

Personally, I think that you should use common sense when giving out your PIN #. I guess its about as safe or dangerous as giving someone your myspace address or instant messenger Screenname.

Just be cautious, people can be goofy sometimes.

    Cheers,
be sure to check out the third party section of pinstack for all sorts of goodies for your blackberry.

    Question Re: Pin?!

I noticed there were a couple threads where ppl put their pin numbers and a little about themselves, so everyone could get together on BB Messenger. I would like to put my pin number out there for others. I'm open to messaging! I like the messenger rather than texts. I'm also looking for some kind of "chat room" on the BB. I enjoy meeting new people. Hopefully this reply will get to the correct thread somehow?? My pin is 24080536. I'm married for 17yrs, have 4 kids, Girl 18, Boy 17, Girl 15, Boy 9. My two middle children have several medical dsabilities and are mentally challenged. Life around here is hectic! I'm disabled so I'm home most of the time. My sister gave me my BB Pearl cuz she has one and we can message whenever and where ever. Anyways...message me if you'd like! I hope to hear from ya'll!

    Re: Pin?!

When you go to options on your BB then click status and it will give you your pin on the screen that is the easy way. You can also pull your battery out and behind you will find a label with your esn and your pin will also be listed ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Also, (at least on my 8130), if you type mypin (followed by a space or enter) in any text field, it will change it to pin: xxxxxxxx (with xxxxxxxx being the device PIN).
