Performance for the Blackberry Pearl (8100)

Have you all seen any tips geared to enhancing the general performance and speed of the 8100? It's not that it's slow, but there are sometimes when I think page to page loads should be faster.

For instance, I was wondering if it would help if I didn't install (or uninstalled) all the unnecessary language support. Do those get parsed each time? Do I need the Portuguese lang set if I rarely/never use it?

    Any other tips?

    Thanks,
    M

Try pressing ALT L,G,L,G until the event log appears and clear it from time to time.

Also you can go to the log sheet and make it not record any logs. To do this go to alt L,G,L,G and then click menu>options. Then scroll down to one of the items with a check box next to it and click menu>hide all types. This should keep the log sheet from logging any things. This doesn't mess anything up and will speed your bb up a little bit. Also when using the bb browser, loading pages all depends on the signal strength you have. If you have a low signal then the pages will not load as fast as if you had a high signal.

    Hope this helps,

I agree. And reboot often, app switcher to left convenience key for easy check of running apps, clear browser cache, remove unnecessary crap that uses memory

And definitely remove all the unused Language support. I don't know if it will speed things up but it will give more free memory which is never a bad thing.

Re: Performance for the Blackberry Pearl (8100)

I went one step further. I altered my os to enable all prividers theme then deleted all the ones that I didn't like and or use. I then deleted all the lang support (can only speak/read English lol ) then deleted voice command as again I never used it. Added by the fact that I try to keep as few enails as needed and clearing most from the call list. Oh and the lglg thing and now run on around 28mb.
Ps I've got a mass amount of software programs aswell !!!

Yes, deleting these frees up a ton of memory.

Can this be done through the handset? Or do you have to do it throught the DM?

Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications List

Delete from there via the handset.

I list only applications, no languages. Not even English.

tws777> Then you don't have any.

Note to alt-LGLG fanboys: hiding entries from the event log won't free any memory, just make you believe you did.
Only regularly going through the Clear Log option will, and I don't think it's really worth it.
