    i just bought this pearl from a friend of a friend, i have the phone and the charger. the phone wont turn on. it wont do anything. i plug it in to charge and ...nothing. i plug in in to my computer...and nothing i think the battery might be a gonner, but i'd like to know if it could be something else before putting more money into a lost cause. please help.

    You could try switching out the battery with another one if you know anyone who has one.
    Also install DM (Desktop Manager) onto PC and see if that will recognize the device.

    Just for your purposes I would suggest 4.2 sp1 for the quickest download. It sounds like your USB port on the phone may be bad. If you can try swapping out for a known good, charged battery and see what happens.

    Take the battery out and plug in to your charger. If the phone functions, you should get a screen with a picture of a battery with a slash across it. If you get nothing it probably is either the phone or, if you're lucky, maybe just the USB socket. I'd get it to a repair shop for analysis and hope that you've got a simple problem. Good luck.
