    Pearl - real bad problem!

    OK,

Here's the deal. I have a Pearl that I love! It went to France with me and it's my special little friend. It has developed a problem that is "un-fixable." The problem is that the connection on the back side of the USB port is broken - the front of the USB port is fine - no bent pins or anything - and the connection between the back side of the USB and the board that evidently IS the phone are disconnected.

Question: Is there anyone out there who does micro-surgery and can repair my dear little O2 Pearl? I am filled with grief over this. The Pearl is currently sporting 4.5.0.81 but I can never upgrade it again. I can only charge it via a desktop cradle.

Some specialist please come to my rescue. This 8100 has long since ceased to be financially practical.

that's so sad! I wish I knew a little about micro operating a BB... But I don't. What I can do for you is pray that a BB surgeon answers to this post and helps you put. I know is not much help, but my prayers and thoughts are with you. Best luck with your BB. Keep us in touch with this issue. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Thanks folks and Cat, it's not the USB port. It's the "prongs" on the other side of the port - I guess that means the connection on the main board itself - that are broken. It's been to a couple of repair shops - the prognosis is the same from all.

I guess I'll have to try to find a totally beat up Pearl with a perfect board inside it and combine the two if I ever do anything. Right now, it has .81 on it - that was about the last thing I did before total failure - and it still works as a phone and gamer, so...? Fortunately it's only a spare GSM phone now.

I think you should just get a new phone. Go get the 8120 pearl. If you love your 8100 so much then you'll definitely love the 8120. Its amazing. Just like the 8100 but with some updates and wifi! Good luck hun and sorry for the bad news.

Thanks. I guess I should say that my main phone now is the 8330. I also have the 8320 as well as the Pearl.

I HAD the 8120 for a short while and sold it simply because I had more phones than I needed. Had I known that this was coming with the 8100 I'd have kept the 8120 - you're right though, the 8120 is a real gem!
