Recently my phones been acting very strange. My keypad and track ball button works selectively. The only time it does is after (on its own) presses a series of keys always just the qw and er button numerous times. Once that happens its a race against time to get my messages or call anyone until the keypad stops working again. My phones flawless and well taken care of I have no idea whats wrong. Also, I have the standard programs on it (opera, google maps, etc.). Any ideas?
Did this just start to happen on its own or did it start after a application install? Also have you tried a battery pull and reset?
It just started to happen and the last time I've installed a program has been two months ago. I pulled the battery several times. Actually I do that when I need to use it because the likely it will work is greater after it loads again. How do i reset? I thought pulling the battery was the reset...
Try some compressed air just in case there is lint trapped. If not, I would try an operating system reinstall / upgrade and see if that correct the issue. If not it may be hardware related.
You can find links to the newest operating system and install instructions in my blog.
i would say that you need to get a new bb. Think you have bigger issues. I have not seen a bb with keyboard issues before, trackball yes. They are pron to problems for many reasons. But if your having issues with the keypad, there is more than meets the eye. Other wise its very simple to pull the phone apart, just takes a hex 2 1/2. Then you could get under the keypad and really clean it out. But if you have taken care of it as you say you have I cant see that it could really be that dirty...
I HAVE seen keyboard issues -- if water or some obnoxious liquid, or even just
moisture gets under the keys. Worse if it is capable of melting (wax or something).
Now, the erratic behavior you are seeing is unusual -- but do consider the possibility above. Let the BB dry... or open it and clean it up... before you try something more drastic.
