Do you have a MicroSD card? I would recommend getting one before you start sticking a bunch of media onto your phone memory. You'll run into trouble with your Messages, Emails, Call Logs, etc deleting by themselves.

ya theres gotta be something else...one of the songs I transfered over to my pearl has the album art that shows up when I play that song but I never once put the jpg on the phone...amazed me. I wondered if somehow it was attached to the mp3. Anyone have any ideas? I thought it was great cause then I didn't have to take up extra space with jpgs just for the album art.

mp3 does have ID3v2.3 tag which is called "Cover" or "Cover art", which is embedded picture in mp3 song. Most PC players can show this picture, but I did not know that Pearl player might support that...
Must try as soon as I find some mp3 with embedded cover...

    Confirmed!
Adding cover art caused file size change from 8,95MB to 9,01MB (mp3 is codded at 224 Kbit/s, stereo).

For editing tags I use freeware software called Mp3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/).
However, you have to add cover art manually, file per file... and remember to save tag for each file!

    Re: Pearl Media Player

yep I just used mp3 tag tools (freeware) and same thing it does add a little to the size (but am sure it depends on the picture size). This one you don't have to do file by file though. I select the directory (folder), select all (or whichever one/s i want holding ctrl), select pic and hit write tag. done. sweet.

I use musicmatch and it let's edit the tags, do it for as many as 30 songs at the same time plus it looks up the info for each one on the net and gives you choices for you to choose the rigth one.

Thanks reddog...I also have about 80 gigs or so and was looking for something to use for the volume leveling. Thanks for those links. BTW you have to fix those links..Part 1, 2, and 3. Two addresses in one.

    I use mp3Gain (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/).
I know, it's old, but it still works perfectly. And given enough time, it can level your entire HDD!
It uses mp3 tags called REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN, REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK, MP3GAIN_MINMAX and MP3GAIN_UNDO, and values inside those tags are only things changed.

BTW, whichever software you use, leveling will not be perfect. Production of original CD recording brings major differences...

I have about 170 GB of mp3's now, most of them leveled with mp3Gain.
