pearl keeps switching between SOS and normal

Hey guys my pearl has been acting up today. It will be fine one moment, and the next the reception becomes SOS. I battery pull, and a few minutes later it does it again. But it does switch back to normal. It just takes a bit of time. Now I rely on my pearl to get me my emails and to make and receive calls, so what's going on here?

    Pearl specs:

    AT&T network
    v4.2.1.96

    Thanks!

alright well it seems to have stopped doing that for now, its been on the EDGE for 15 minutes without dropping to SOS.

It could be that you are in a poor reception area, or that the carrier is experiencing intermitent issues in that area.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~get this. It started doing it again. In fact, as I type this, its in SOS again. Nevermind its back to normal. I think I came to a conclusion: this firmware, plus an area with spotty reception, equals SOS! But that's really weird because before this it didn't do that. Since I've had it (January 6 of ' 08) to yesterday, it wouldn't do this. Oh well, I hope in 4.5 this issue is fixed.
