    Pearl controlling your ipod?!?

DOes this happen to anyone else? If my pearl is next to my ipod, the volume will freak out. It doesn't happen with my 8830. I have to keep the ipod switched to a lock position so I don't unsuspectingly blow my eardrums to kingdom come.

I can say I have had this happen before.... no, not sure why! I can say that I have my pearl on top of my Ipod (which was in it's case) and the volume shot up on me at random!

    ...strange

I don't have a Pearl. But, I've had my Video Ipod volume shoot up at random. The only other electronics around it were the surround sound receiver. I thought I was losing my mind. lol

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~it has something to do with the signal when data comes through... But I prefer to believe that the pearl is just jealous you aren't paying enough attention to it! :P

not possible. I forget my ipod, leave it in my car or on the dock all the time. I haven't synced that in about 3 months... My pearl gets all star treatment, leather case, synced weekly rarely leave home w/o it.

I am not guilty of pearl abuse.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but why do you carry a pearl and an iPod?

well, seeing as how the media player leaves alot to be desired, and the storage capability diff, and possibly the fact the ipod was owned before the pearl, it would make sense

80gb versus 4gb(if the person even has this) is just too vast.

    Re: Pearl controlling your ipod?!?

It is possible for a mobile radio device to cause enough electromagnetic interference to affect the signal processing of other devices when it is in close proximity. The usual point of reception in the affected device is in uninsulated IC chips. The most prominently known source of damaging EM radiation is an EMP pulse which is often tied to nuclear explosions, which is much higher than your blackberry is capable of dishing out, but the theory is there and your phone is transmitting EM radiation.

I have had incidents where a higher source of EM radiation permanantly damaged an IC chip. Remember the plasma globes that are sold as novelty lighting toys?) They can actually kill nearby IC chips... (useless bit of trivia FTW. I went through three devices before I figured it out, lol.

I would recommend keeping your two devices a little further apart for good measure. If it is affecting your ipod on a regular basis then you might as well anyway.

I am testing this on the shuffle g2 right now using an NPR stream to keep the interference at a high level. Nothing so far, but the shuffle g2 is the most simple of them all...

Still nothing, at various angles even. There may even be a very specific protocol that it happens at. Way too many variables to test on the fly. But I am still certain that this is what is happening, just keep you devices seperated a little and you'llbe fine.
