Is there a way to silence the sound when taking a picture? It is very annoying and bothersome.

    Thanks!

That's exactly what it is. Too many perverts were taking pictures of womens underskirts. The phone companies decided to make this standard for all phone cameras...I think it's a good idea.

You need to plug headphones in, start playing a sound file, PAUSE the sound file, then take a picture.

I have not tried it as I dont have any headphones that will fit but I read on other boards that it works.

Sweeet. I just verified that the Pearl's sound does go through the headphones without any extra steps like I said above.

I just hooked up the headset that came with my Pearl, started the camera and the sound played through the headset not the speaker.!!!

We perfer the term "sexual predator..."
    Hahaha!
    Just kidding!
You could also plug up the sound hole with epoxy paste so the sound doesn't come out!

Every other cell or pda I have used all have an option to turn off the camera sound and/or ALL external sounds. It just makes sense in todays society where cell sounds are frowned upon in many areas.

I have never had a pda, like the Pearl, that still make external sounds while even in vibrate mode !! The entire purpose of using virate mode is YOUR USUALLY IN A AREA WHERE YOU CANT MAKE NOISE.

All my former cells/pdas played no sound at all when in vibrate mode. Even when you went to play am MP3 or video it would mute the sound if you were in vibrate mode.

The Pearl even allows playing of audio and video sounds externally while in vibrate mode.

    Yeah...
"Caution: Not the phone to use if you're on a covert mission and can't make any noise in the area that you're in."

They should put that on the box...

i mean really if you want no sound with the camera just stick some tissue over the speaker. anyways all camera phones need to make sound, its a liability thing. phone makers don't want to get sued from people getting their pictures take when they dont want then taken. aka sexual preditors. just like jailbaitryan said.

talking about shutter sound, how about camera effects on the phone? I've been messing around with it I haven't run into an option where I can change it to sephia or black and white. Does the Pearl even have it?
