How come when the room is dark the brightness goes darker and when there is a light the screen becomes brighter?
    Why does mine work backwards?

Yours works fine, i think they have it backwards further up the thread.

LOW LIGHT = LOW BRIGHTNESS ON PEARL
    BRIGHT LIGHT = BRIGHT PEARL!

The autodim feature will increase the brightness of the display when surrounded by light. Making it easier to read your display when the sun is shining on your display(If you have ever tried reading an email at an afternoon baseball game, you know what I mean). When using the pearl in a dark room the display will dim making it easier on the eyes.

^ Ya, that makes sense. P.S. I had wrote it backwards. But when I turned out all my lights the screen got darker, and then when I turned all my lights back on the screen got brighter.

Not really, if the ambient light is darker, you don't need as much back light to read the screen, and the more the contrast between the screen and the ambient light, eyestrain is more likely as the eyes try to adjust to the additional brightness of the screen.

    Re: Pearl Brightness

yea i dont understand it. it makes it HARDER for me to see in the dark when the screen is darker. actually, i prefer it bright ALL THE TIME. its more convenient for me that way. and i hate how i dont have control over this feature, i mean come on its MY phone. i should at least be able to turn of the auto dim if i wanted to. and its NOT an upgrade, its just another headache. sorry i just needed to give in my 2 cents. my bb is more complicated than i ever thought it was gonna be. i understand the love-hate relationship that some people have with their bb's now. heh.

    Re: Pearl Brightness

so where exactly is the sensor for the auto dim feature? is it possible a krusell case could be covering it so it functions randomly. mine seems to spend more time dim than bright.
