Pearl as MP3 Player on Airplanes

I know this has been discussed breifly before, but with the way security changes every day, I was wondering how many people have used thier Pearl as an MP3 player on a plane?

Have you been told you cannot use a phone on board? If so, how did you convince them the phone was off?

Has anyone been told they still cant use it after trying to convince them that the phone itself is off?

Just curious. I will be flying for the first time tomorrow since I bought my pearl, and wondering if I should pack a backup MP3 player.

    Hi There,

I fly twice a week and have been using my Pearl to watch vids on the plane so its been in sight of cabin crew. No one has told me to turn it off yet. I do turn the wirless setting off before getting on the plane so that when I switch it back on the wireless is off all the time on the plane. Am sure as an MP3 player in your pocket no one would notice

Most Flight Attendants know that wireless devices have 'Airplane Mode' or in our case 'Wireless Off'... so they shouldnt be giving you a problem... they've never even bothered me about mine.

you cant use bluetooth on an airplane, it's the whole reason i initially was drawn to the pearl, because of the headphone jack(later i found a billion more features)

Unless your headphones have a jack thats already that size yes you will need an adapter. The one from RadioShack/The Source will not work. If you do a search on here you will turn up links to purchase those adapters cheaply.

Every time I fly, I always have my phone with me. They never mention anything to me. Hook it up to some headphones and call it a day.

There shouldn't be any problems as long as the radio is off during flight. However, you will need to power it down during takeoff and landing, most attendants are pretty adamant about this, no matter what kind of electronic device it is (I fly at least 6 times a year if not more, so my info is current). Hope that helps!
