    Question Outlook Calendar Syncing issues

I have had my pearl for about two weeks now and I love it. This forum has been helpful and I sign on everyday. my issue is with the Outlook Calendar. When I go to sync my calendar, it stops at a certain entry (say, 251 of 310) and then the destop manager will just crash. If I make a copy of the calendar, and set up the sync to use the new one (Calendar1), it syncs fine. Then, when I change it back to the original calendar, it will sync fine the FIRST time, but crash again after that. It's kind of a pain to have to keep changing it back and forth every time I need to sync. Any ideas?

My business doesn't have BES; we're running 4Team's ShareOutlook to keep a group calendar. That's the calendar I'm trying to sync. My coworkers don't have this problem. I am running .101 and DM SP2, but I just upgraded to that yesterday. The problem was happening even before I upgraded.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Yes, they're using 8703's and no problems with them. The problem has happened since the first day I synced my pearl, about two weeks ago.

Are you getting any type of error message? Is it the same entry each time or different ones? Sounds like it might be some un-recognized or unexpected charecter in a field...

no, there's no error message but the one windows give you when a program crashes and it asks to report the problem.

It's not always the same entry, and I've spent a lot of time going through my calendar entries to see anything suspicious, but I haven't found a thing.

    Re: Outlook Calendar Syncing issues

I have the exact same problem. Here is the history.

    Blackberry 8700
    Desktop Manager 4.2.0.10

We have one user here (the president) who uses a blackberry and syncs through Outlook. Periodically, the sync will crash at a calendar entry.

First, I was told by support to create a new profile in Outlook that the blackberry could sync to. Since we use cached exchange mode AND this user also uses software called OnContact (which works with Outlook), this new profile didn't interface with either.

Creating this new profile worked for a while, but than the crashing started happening again. I called support back, and the guy had me reset the configuration on the device. Worked fine for a month, then it started crashing again.

Now I am in this pattern of resetting the config file every two weeks or so. I have read about Calendar entries with attachments causing the Desktop Manager to crash, but looking through his entries to find the one causing the problem would take forever (since he has at least 50 items per month).

Why does resetting the config file every few weeks make the device able to sync? If calendar items with attachments cause the thing to crash, why have they not fixed the problem?

    Re: Outlook Calendar Syncing issues

Well, looks like I'm having the same problem. 8100 on T-Mobile (if it matters), when synching to Outlook Calendar.

Using Desktop Manager 4.2.0.10, on WinXP, SP2.

I get a crash somewhere in the middle of the calendar items. (Today it was 60/120).

Resetting the Configuration did enable the synch to work for now, but I have also got it to work temporarily by changing configuration or enabling/disabling synchronization of the various tools (Calendar, Notes, Tasks, etc.) So far, the problem has always returned.

For me, I had about 6 weeks of trouble-free usage, then once this problem started, it seems to be quite persistant.

I've allowed the error report to get sent several times, so I'm sure someone knows about this, but haven't heard about an update yet...

    Herbie

You may want to try an updated Desktop manager. Current is 4.2.2.14 with sp2

Yeah, I saw that after making my post. I'm downloading it now, but apparently I have a smaller pipe at work today than I usually do at home, so its taking a while to download...

Sorry - should have warned you sp2 is a big DL - includes Roxio Media Manager. If you dont need Roxio sp1 would have been fine.

    Post back your results!

    Re: Outlook Calendar Syncing issues

OK, the synchs seem to be working now. Had another problem with the desktop stuff getting stuck on "Working...", but it might be related to installing 4.2.2.14 without uninstalling 4.2.2.10 (it wasn't 100% smooth as an installation).

I've not uninstalled everything and reinstalled, and so-far, so-good.

Question Re: Outlook Calendar Syncing issues

I have BB 8100 - also having issues with outlook calendar synch. The process reaches a certain point (47/320) and then crashes BB Desktop (version 4.2 SP2). I have exported items from all dates selected to synh, analyzed every way I can think of, and cannot find any anomalies that might cause problem. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, susanj2
