yea i was just making a point but lets stick to the basics first. memory optimization is key and then once you have become a bit more accustomed to the device you can start playing with the OS and java files

popo...you CAN upgrade your blackberry device software to ONLY 8130

you have to understand that your 8130 is the latest model in the 81xx series devices, including 8100, 8110, 8120 and 8130

ONLY download and install device software specific to YOUR bb, which is 8130, which I have linked to in post #2

    popo,
Listen to cherrichiodo, she has been doing this for quite a while and has walked many users through OS upgrades.

Follow her advice and you will be done in no time.

Ok I am reading everyones replies in here. She did post once don't download this to your BB. I am by no means attempting to insult anyone here, insult anyones intelligence at all. So everyone knows here who is helping me I have a Sprint Blackberry Pearl 8130, which I know is CDMA.

I do understand that my device is the 8130. Between different posts it seemed as the conversation was not 8130 specific but CDMA or GSM specific. That is where the confusion on my part came in. So 8130 is the 8130 and I got that. So the upgrade applies to the 8130 that we have been talking about. Deleting the vendor file disassociates the upgrade from TMO and allows it to upgrade on my Sprint device. I think I have this down so far, please correct me.

well, the latest OS for your blackberry is from US Cellular. so let's not even use TMO in this equation, as they are GSM and you are CDMA.

so, US Cellular has issued the upgrade. you download it and then delete the vendor.xml file (instructions in post #5). if you do not delete it, then when you get ready to load it, DM will not *SEE* it and you will not be prompted to upgrade. Once the deleting occurs, and you open DM, it will automatically see that the OS on your BB is OLDER than what you have installed on your PC.

~~Cherrichiodo beat me to the post~~

What they are saying is yes you can do it, but you need to do the OS upgrade with either a US Cellular 8130 OS, Verizon 8130 OS, or a Sprint 8130 OS (but your on Sprint so you don't need that ) So follow the directions above, but dont use any other software OS that is
    1. not a CDMA carrier (ie Tmobile, Att)
    2. is a different model of blackberry (8310 to 8130 = not good)

    Hope that clarifies, enjoy!

I located a vendor file in the apploader folder. It says it is a safari document???? Is this the right one? It doesn't say vendor.xml though.
That has to be it because there is no other file with the name vendor in any of the folders at all. Yes I do have display hidden files or folders also, just thought I would add that before I get blasted with that one. Thanks!
