Is there any way that you could turn off the camera sound when taking a picture?
Searched all over for the option but, nothing. Or can is it a Mandatory Function?

The sound is to alert the girls in the girls locker room of sneaky activities afoot.

Or Employers with employees working in secure areas. One reason RIM will always have a model without a camera, I would expect.

Nokia must not know about that law... I had a 6230 and a 6682, in silent mode, the camera was also silent.

On a Treo you can turn the shutter sound off as well. Must be a RIM thing. My question is why cant someone make a program to turn it off or mute it? sounds simple enough in theory

I've also not seen any US law or regulation mandating the use of audible indication of camera use on cell phones. As far as I know there is none, and the current state of things is a result of industry self-regulation and bleedover from requirements in Japan and South Korea.

i think since RIM is not a big "urban" telephone manufacter, they really didnt think about taking the shutter off.. as we know, BB are used most by the proffesionals! as we all know you can take the shutter sound away from a motorola or a nokia...
maybe RIM will fix this in later models? but as now, cant remove the sound from pearl!

One solution from old threads was to call your voicemail and then switch to the camara and take your picture. Kinda ruins spur of the moment pictures but gets rid of the sound..

i used to photography and as far as i know there is no law about taking photos of people in public the law only comes into it if you publish the pictures with out the persons concent or if the pictures are sexual in some way, if there was a law about taking pictures of people without there concent there would be no cctv ect, the law may have changed tho as was a few years ago
