    Optimal web browsing?

I like the BlackBerry browser and I use it a lot. I have been trying to tweek the browser settings to get the best web browsing experience. If you check off too many setting, downloading can be slow. If you check off too little, it's fast, but not "pretty." These are my settings...

    support javascript
    allow java pop-ups
    use fore and background colors
    support style sheets
    content-wml&html
    show images-wml &html
    emulator-blackberry

Maybe we can only do so much with the EDGE network. It's fast enough for me, but I am trying to find a good setting. Feedback/opinions welcome.

I'm yet to find a configuration that lets you access skysports.com without having to do a battery-pull!

    Mine is:

    Support HTML Tables
    Use Foreground And Background Colors
    Use Background Images
    Support Style Sheets
    Style sheets media type: Screen

What does the ie and netscape setting's really do? Besides the way it renders, can u explain why ie would be better? Just learning.

    No idea actually.

Maybe someone technical (or who has testing the settings more thoroughly) can comment.

    Re: Optimal web browsing?

found this on another site.. this person was responding to someone who was wondering why he can't view a page correctly...

"Yes you can do this. Assuming your browser on your blackberry can handle the normal vanguard.com website, all you have you do is trick vanguard.com into thinking you aren't on a mobile.

Every browser sends a message to the website it visits, identifying the type of browser (example: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Blackberry Browser) and version number.

It's frequently possible to "lie" to the website and tell it you are using something else. If you tell vanguard.com that you are using Internet Explorer, it should not redirect you to a mobile webpage.

So how do you do this? Go into your browser options/browser configuration and set your "browser emulation" to Microsoft IE (it's in there on the blackberry).

Unfortunately, you'll probably want to set it back to blackberry/default when you visit other pages, because some websites will specifically change how they look to better suit your blackberry. I don't think there is any way to automatically switch to Microsoft IE emulation just for one webpage."

hope that helps.. i have mine on MS Pocket IE
