Oops, I cracked the screen on my 8120

Contrary to what my husband says (this is his acct) I take good care of my phone. This morning I went to stick my pearl 8120 that I have only had for 2 months into my purse and whoops, it missed and hit the linoleum about 4 feet below. It was in the pouch that the phone comes with but of course it hit the top corner when it fell which dented it and cracked the screen internally. The phone still works swell but I read replacing the screen can be easy and I just have to purchase a broken pearl and take that screen. After all this rambling, my question is .. can I use a pearl 8100 screen? Or will that not fit? Help! Thank

    germy,

Are you refering to the lense or the LCD screen?

I beleive the LCD is common to the 8100 series, but not the lense.

I think it's the lense. The picture and everything looks fine. Just the screen has a crack on it. I can't feel the crack on the screen looks like it's inside.

germy, you could also get a replacement lens and/or screen from cnn.cn or gsm4world.us. Might take a little longer than purchasing a broken Pearl, but worth a look.

You may need to order one. If you are patient, here is the best deal (just expect to wait a few weeks):

    cnn.cn

Silver OEM lense is only $4.99

Thanks guys. Of course what I need is out of stock on cnn.cn I'll have to keep checking back and just buy a full housing set since one of the side rails was dented too. Keep some replacement parts on hand Hopefully it's just the lens. Thanks again!

Just did, found a gray lens so I'll try that out. I will be getting a protective case too so this dosen't happen again. Thanks!

Cool, good luck! And if you ordered from gsm4world, please let us know about your experience with them. A lot of us have ordered from cnn.cn with a few complaints about turnaround time, but I'm not aware of anyone who has ordered from gsm4world. Sorry if you're our guinea pig, but we'd be anxious to hear about your opinion of them!

I decided against gsm4world. Found one on ebay (a website I know and trust) And yes, It was a sad morning. Germy (this is his wife) gave me quite a look. My first blackberry was 2nd hand and was already scratched up. This beauty was brand new and I was given great responsibillity! Needless to say, he's disappointed. Thanks again for everyone's help. I'm relieved to know my baby will be back to normal in no time.
