so last night when i was at work i noticed something. my text messages keep ... BlackBerry Pearl forum
ok if this is how my pearl is gonna be, i dont want it.
so last night when i was at work i noticed something. my text messages keep getting erased!!! it seemed like once the phones screen turned off, all messages were gone except a welcome txt msg from tmobile tlaking about the phone.
well that kind of stopped, and now today its doing it again. cept now its just no messages period. my girlfriend says her curve does this as well.
is my phone screwed up, or....?
No, it most likely means you're running low on memory.
Go to Options>Status and look at the file free. If it's low single digits, you need to start doing some things to free up space.
Take a look at this thread for ideas on how to free up memory.
isnt there also an erase/clean option that your BB will clean up when locked, holstered, sleep etc. ??
is this a new phone? have you completed the setup wizard-very important-even if you know the device.
this forum is so helpful and quick.
when i do that...nothing really happens
just a box pops up in the middle and shows me some applications...
how do i shut things down?

Just got my z9i, by the way.....love it! :=)
ok yea i have no idea to free up memory
That is correct, Alt/escape brings up the box with the applications that are currently running in the background.....it's called the application switcher.....you can scroll through the icons in th application switcher and see what's running and then highlight the item, menu, close. Some things like Browser, Messages, BlackBerry Messenger, and Home Screen will not close. Some 3rd party applications you may have downloaded may need to stay open to function properly as well. Just close what you can when you don't need it.

Try deleting the Help and TTY apps off your device. Go to Options>Advanced>Applications, then highlight each app, press the BB menu button and Delete.
this isnt making sense to me.

otherwise, do you mean physically going to that item, like the the calculator, and clicking menu, then close? cause all that does, is just close it...kind of like me just clicking back. it doesnt do anything.
Keep holding the alt key while you scroll, when you highlight the one you want, release the alt key, then hit menu and close the app. It's just a quick way to see what's running and access it to close.

have a pearl and I was losing all my messages as well. It has to do with your onboard memory I believe. Try the following things....
Do you have an SD card? Any pictures on your BB transfer to the sd card.
Next your browser stores data. On my pearl I open the broweser then select options, then cache operations. Scroll to content cache and hit the clear button.
That should help cut down on the reboots...
Hope this helps.
Another option is to look for the memoryup application which will clean your ram memory for you.
hope this helps
