Number of rings before voicemail - Rogers

    Hello,

I have searched and found a solution for Cingular, but does anyone know how I can increase the amount of time before voicemail kicks in with Rogers? With Vibrate on, the phone rings for less than 10 seconds before going to voicemail and I am missing too many calls. I read that cingular has some *61* code you can type in, does Rogers have something like that?

    Thanks,

    SP

To change the number of rings before the call transfers to the voicemail system, follow these steps
    On your phone dial:

    *61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*tt#

Where XXXXXXXXXX is your market's VM number and tt is the time in seconds you want the phone to ring for.

remember to use the + right before your voicemail number. Do not input more than 30 seconds because you could have some problems of calls never reaching voice mail.
Just type it in and hit send/call and you should get some sort of confirmation message. Then try it. I believe the default setting is 15 seconds.

    I hope this helps

Thanks likefre but I get an error that says -

    Supplementary service error:Unexpected data value.

My Rogers phone is GSM, so not sure what is going on. I did -

    **61 (voicemail#)*30#SEND

    Is that right?

I called Rogers, and they tell me it is impossible to change the number of rings. I had to change the number of vibrates so at least I can hear it ring, if I do not feel it vibrate.

My old sanyo on bell used to vibrate and ring at the same time, and bell allowed me to change the number of rings also.

Not sure why Rogers limits so much functionality, on top of charging so much.

Oh when oh when will the GSM competition start in this country!

Thanks likefre but starwatcher may be right. I tried variations -

    *61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*tt#
    and
    **61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*tt#
    and
    **61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*tt#

None of them worked, still get the same system error. I could do this on previous non blackberry phones with rogers (old Nokia with no data plan) but doesn't seem to work with this phone and the data plan.

Any other Rogers people have any luck?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~on Nextel you used to have to call customer serv ice and they could change vmail to pick up after a different # of rings. A buddy did this to change it from 3 rings to 5 rings. Its been a while.

I just did some experiments with my Rogers service. With the phone set to vibrate three times, I only get two rings before it goes to voice mail - elapsed time just under 30 seconds. When I set it to vibrate only once, I get three rings before the voice mail picks up - again, elapsed time just under 30 seconds.

It would sure be nice if it would vibrate and ring at the same time.
