    Question No WAP Browser on BB 8100 Pearl

    I bought a second-hand BB which was locked to Rogers, but is now unlocked and I'm using it on Fido. I signed up for the BlackBerry Connect package, but I can't set up an email account. I only have Internet Browser.

    Can anyone help me as to what I should be doing?

    Or is there any other software around that I can use to check my other pop accounts?

    If I understand correctly, the Blackberry Connect package is for handsets other than Blackberrys to function as a Blackberry in regards to email:

    However if you have a Browser icon, then you should be on a BIS data plan and have normal blackberry email. Unless I'm wrong.
    So you should be able to login here:
    https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=fido
    And setup your email accounts for your handheld.

    Let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree. Worse case, you may be on the wrong type of data plan and you're being charged for something you don't need.

    Ok...tried that and I keep getting this message, which is what I've always been getting:

    Your account is not accessible via HTML browser. Please use your device to access BlackBerry Internet Service.

    Please try again

    go into your browser and hit the menu button and go to options and go to browser configuration.

    what does it say next to browser?

    what does it say next to emulation mode?

    what does it say next to content mode?

    Only Internet Browser is there...nothing else to choose from.

    I have set emulation to Openwave (WAP)

    Content is WML & HTML


    Oh....just checked the page where I am doing the email setup, and it's set to BlackBerry as the browser. Can't change that.

    Nope...same message. Tried in Opera Mini too, and got the same thing. Tried on my PC...same thing. Grrrrrrrrrrr! What a pain!

    Just ran a diagnostic...and it says that it's on the Rogers Network, and it should be on the Fido Network. Strange.

    hmmm maybe thats the problem. maybe its trying to connect to an account on rogers instead

    Problem has been fixed. I called BlackBerry and they were more than happy to create an account for me....so now I can send and receive emails!

    Thanks for your help and ideas.
