Your computer already has an operating system, its the enviornment in which you open and view files and programs on your computer, IE- Windows XP, OS X Tiger, Linux.

You need to install the pearl OS .exe file that is either on the CD Rom that came with your BB or one that you download from your carriers Blackberry Support site. It has the file name that is similar to this, 8700E_PBr4[1].1.0_rel175_PL2.0.0.90_A4.1.0.194_Cingular.exe, except that it probably starts with 8100 and ends with rogers.exe. Just execute that file.

    Hope this helps

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

As I recall, the CD with the Pearl from Rogers did not include the OS.

    Go to: http://www.rogers.com/techsupport

    Choose BlackBerry
    Choose Pearl

In that list you will find the OS.

However, all this hassle, for a couple of themes? (which may not even be included in this build.)

Seeing that you are a new BlackBerry user, I would highly recommend NOT altering the OS.

But I am curious: knowing how relatively expensive (compared to other Rogers phones) the Pearl is, and that you did not purchase a BlackBerry Data Plan for your Pearl, why didn't you choose a different phone?

Without a BlackBerry Data Plan, the Pearl is merely an expensive phone. If it were me, I would have taken a Moto SLVR or a Sony W810. They do essentially the same thing as a Pearl, but without the high cost of the BlackBerry Data Plan, and the ability to use pay-pre-use data at much lower rates.

That's why I always include the "or download" option. Some carriers include it some don't. Or it may no longer be included, but you never know.

And I've given up on asking why people buy a blackberry and not take advantage of all it has to offer. It's got to be the "KOOL FACTOR", which I just can't understand.

Yeah but BB without BB data plan you'll not see half of the options in the phone
I'm french canadian so I can also help you in french, just PM me
UNLESS it is for a BETA OS, it's at your own risk and I won't support it
