No Caller ID for any caller

(I actually read all 63 threads that come up in a search for this topic and stiill can't find an answer that works for me)

I sync my Pearl with Outlook 2003 connected to an Exchange Server. All my numbers have area codes and Outlook knows enough to add a 1 when I look at the number in detail (one writer mentioned a pen symbol near the number in Outlook, I have no such thing I can find). I tried manually adding a "1-" to my own home number, didn't help. Content Protection is Disabled. I'm runniing 4.2.0.64 on T-Mobile

    Any and all suggestions welcome
    Bill

Have you tried reinstalling your BB's OS, that's how I fixed the problem when I ran into it.

Re: No Caller ID for any caller

Thanks for the ideas but ....

removing dashes didn't make any difference.

    I did a reinstall and wish I hadn't.

I am still waiting for the phone to recover. It said it did a sucessful reinstall and then did a sync during which it "couldn't write applications data" Then just a white screen with occasional data transmission arrows.

I tried removing and replacing the battery, only difference is my white screen now has a T-Mobile logo on it

Removing and replacing the battery a second time brought it back to life (whew) but still no caller ID - "unknown" is all I get

    Have you tried:

Press the green call button to call up the phone log screen
    Press the menu button
    Go to Options
    Go to smart dialling
Enter your country code in GSM format e.g. +1
Possibly also enter either "10" or "11" in National Number length

    Does any of that help>

Re: No Caller ID for any caller

First thing I would do is check to make sure you dont have number blocking on your home phone. In my area with Verizon pressing *82 before a call is made removes the block.

If your positive your number is not blocked by doing the above and/or calling someone else with CallerID and having your number show up, I would try whats next.

In Outlook make sure you all you contacts phone numbers look like this
    +1 (555) 555-5555

You can check/change this by clicking the persons name, then on the left side click where it says what kind of phone it is (Business, home, etc...). Then make sure the area code, etc... are in the proper fields. Also make sure it says "United States". When you save it, it adds the +1 and formats the number correctly. Then sync your PC and BB.

On the BB, under Phone Options/Smart Dialing make sure the Country Code is +1 and lenght is 10.

Then in Security/General Settings make sure Content Protection, Content Compression (just for testing) are disabled. Also make sure to where it says include Address Book it says no.

If none of this works call TMobile.

Re: No Caller ID for any caller

Turns out it was T-Mobile's problem

    "
Upon a visual audit of your network settings W C, I noticed that there was a slight discrepancy with the configurations. I have gone ahead and corrected them. Please perform a power cycle on your Blackberry Pearl W C, to refresh your signal with the nearest tower. If you are still unable to view the incoming calls after power cycling your Blackberry respond to this email for further assistance."

Thanks to all of you who made suggestions

    Bill
