    Question No Audio when calling.....HELP!!!

I am having trouble with my 8100. I can still receive emails, texts, and calls. My media player still works and I can listen to music through the speakerphone. The problem is when someone calls me or I try to call them. I can't hear anything. There is no static or any noise at all. It shows that I am connected, but there isn't any noise. The person on the other end of the line can't hear me either. I also am not able to put the phone on speakerphone. My OS is 4.2. I just downgraded from 4.5. I have tried battery pulls, master reset, downgrading OS, and calling ATT (I am past warranty). Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I thought it was just a problem with the speaker, but nobody can hear me on the other end either. If you have any suggestions please help!!!

When did this start? With the 4.5 OS or after you loaded the 4.2?

It started about a week and a half after the 4.5 load. I didn't have any 3rd party programs or anything on it. still don't in fact.

Craig, that is a pretty odd issue!! Sounds like you may need a new phone, sounds like it could be hardware failure

    Craig,

At this point I would wipe with JL_Cmder (see my blog for more info) and reload the newest 4.2 OS (or at least a different one) you can find for your 8100 (again, you can find links in my blog).

Some 8100 OS have had audio issues, tho none as severe as you describe.

Good luck and keep us posted.

i've read your tutorial, but can't install Jl_cmder on my computer. I unzipped it, and got the installer on my computer. Load it, and it puts a file on my desktop. Double click the file, and it says the specified path doesn't exist. I have already went ahead and ordered a new 8110, but would LOVE to get my 8100 in working order so i can sell it. Any other suggestions?

you could always see if one of the device experts or or other Stackers would accept your phone in the mail...have them try and fix it...and they could send it back after they tried...just a thought since you have a replacement coming...i've used jl_cmder a couple times to restore my BB and it works great

Most to be a phone issue, my ear speaker died on me, after searching online I decided to clean the contacts. Took the phone apart, cleaned and it came back on. Whats strange is that it worked for a while until I turned on the speaker phone after which it died again. Nothing wold bring it back on just another opening up of the phone. After that time I stopped using the speaker phone for a while and all was good. Maybe a month later I used the speaker phone again on a deferent OS version and same thing. The ear speaker died but this time nothing wants to bring it back from the dead

I think I will need a new ear speaker to solve this but it feels like a software issue.

    Craig,

First report I have seen of being unable to install JL_Cmder.

On my machine the files are found here (after install):

    C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder

Although in this case I would prefer to wipe the device clean, you might try this. When you install the new OS select "do not back up and restore" and only install the core applications of the OS. Lets make sure that their is nothing you are loading that is potentially causing you issues.

I don't think this is a hardware problem on the phone. IF it was a simple malfunctioning ear piece, then why cant people hear me on the other end? I connected my Jawbone bluetooth headset, and the same thing happens. No sound.

I will try installing jl_cmder again Gary. I have Vista, does that matter?

I will try the option of not backing up as well...

    Let you know...

Alright, I was finally able to install Jl_cmder. I extracted it to my desktop, and it loaded the installer, but the installer wouldn't work me for. So I right-clicked, and was able to extract the installer as well. Looked through the folder and eventually found a windows program. Installed Jl_cmder, and wiped BB.

I then deleted the current 4.2 OS from my computer, and installed it back on my computer.

Got the no OS error. Connected BB to computer. Nothing is detected. The BB has the red LED blinking twice, then pause, then it blinks twice. Nothing else.

Everything was installing fine, and then it gave me this....

"A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again.

    Device communications error encountered. [A:0x0000000E]"

I didn't remove USB or battery or anything.
