    Newbie Needs Help Please

    Advertisement

    Hi,

    Ive been given for free a bb pearl 8100, this is my first ever blackberry and im really impressed. Just a few questions:

    When i set a song as my ringtone, it takes about 5 rings before the music kicks in, is this normal?

    When i select the map function all i get is green lines, do i need to put the maps on?

    Is it possible to use this phone for sat nav?

    Can i connect this phone to my wireless internet at home?

    And my last questions is what cool applications are out there for it?

    Thanks in advance

    Tom

    vlingo gives you the opportunity to speek a lot of commands for example:
    * open contacts/messages/ calender
    * call ..... at office/home/mobile
    * search .... (web search)
    * send message to ....
    * new task
    * new memo
    * send email to ...

    start your desktop manager sw. connect your bb with your pc. choose "application loader". add the vlingo-file you´ve downloaded.

    go to www.vlingo.com
    choose "Other" as carrier
    choose your BB-model
    type your e-mail adress
    and submit. They will send you the rest.
    I haven´t had a problem with this.

    Yeah thats what i did, then when i put the link in comes up with
    Please select the appropriate download link for your BlackBerry.

    Download for 0s 4.2.1 or 4.2.2
    Dowload for os 4.3 or 4.5
    Download for Os 4.6

    I downloaded 4.2.1 as my os version is v4.2.1.109. Then when i come to add it with desktop manger, it cant find it because its not a .alx file. When i search all files i find it, then when i select add it comes up with an error saying "no addition aplications designed for you device where found"

    So im abit confused, im using desktop manager v4.6.0.12

    Sorry about all the questions im totally new to blackberry

    THanks

    Tom
