New OS Questions - Newbies Check this out!

    Alright Alright,

I was reading the post about the new OS. And I want! I was reading alll of the new positive changes it has.

Im a newbie, so i need some expert's help (possibly rcbjr)

I need to find out my current OS on my pearl.
I need to find out how to load this OS on my pearl.
I need to know if this new OS will work with my phone carrier which is Rogers.

Can someone PLLLLEASE compose a tutorial. This thread or something like it would benefit not only me but many of the many newbies with pearls.

    Thanks.

well for 1.) go to options and then about, it should be the third line down (the last two digits will prob be .42 the newest one is .64). 2.) you download the os to your pc (or mac or w/e), and I believe rogers had this same update availabe awhile ago (3. I dont know if its the same update that t-mo just put up so check with them) make sure you have desktop manager installed as well. When the os download is done do a search for the vendor.xml file (you can look in the bb folder or do a whole computer search) and delete this file. That will enable the desktop manager to automatically detect the os upgrade when u run it. Hope this helps

Here is a Quick one for you.

Download and install the most current OS onto your computer which for now is the one found here it is the first post in this thread:
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com..._own_risk.html

After it is installed on your computer do a search on your computer for vendor.xml and delete it.

Now connect your BB to the computer and start desktop manager and it will prompt you to update, if it doesnt then start application loader.

Yes this will work with rogers BB OS are device specific not carrier specific, although your carrier could refuse you Customer Service if they find out.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Don't do it!

The current Rogers OS is good. You probably won't find much improvement with the others.

Wait for a new Rogers OS.

Upgrades to the OS aren't always 'visible' .67 fixed a couple small things like a delay in answering calls and supposedly gave better battery life. I think everyone is still testing the latter.

The telefonica .67 update also fixes the "issue" where moving the trackball silences the ringer. Moving the trackball no longer silences the ring of an incoming call.

My question is, since I like that feature, has anyone found if there is an option to return that function in the new OS?

    Thanks
