get Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1 -or- SP2. ima noob too lol, but im sure they will tell you to get the same.
Dont use the one on the disk because that tends to mess your pearl up, like it did mine

go to the Blackberry site and download there.

yup, like bonelafide said, get DM 4.2 SP2, big download ( it includes ROXIO)
after you install it, connect the device, open DM, and click on synchronize, is the last item on the right.
after that opens, click on the configuration tab and then click on the configure synchronize button.

add microsoft to the calendar and address book, and everytime you open outlook and have your phone connected it will sync

SP1 is a smaller download, that takes like 5 minutes. and SP2 is huge, that takes about 10-15+ minutes.

    Hi,
I need help syncing Outlook e-mail with BB Pearl..(without the Data Plan).
The BB Desktop Manager software seems to sync only Calendar/Contacts/Notes.

    Am I missing something.

    Thanks,

    Re: new bb pearl user

No. Your device won't sync email from Outlook. It will only work with email using BIS or BES on a Blackberry Data Plan.

RIM has also released new versions of Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 that gives you the choice of downloading with or without Roxio.
